Coach Background
Originally from the midwest, Jeff spent his first 10 years of coaching primarily on the college side of the game, while also working with local clubs, ODP programs, and seasonal camps. Upon graduating from college in 2006, he took a role as an Assistant Coach and GK Coach at Wabash College (NCAA DIII). In 2009 he then moved to an Associate Head Coach position at his alma mater, Valparaiso University (NCAA DI), before taking on the Big Ten Conference in 2012 as an Assistant Coach and GK Coach at Northwestern University (NCAA DI). In 2016, he and his wife moved to Colorado and Jeff began working as the Goalkeeping Director with Colorado Storm prior to the merger with CRYSC in 2018, then stayed on as the Associate Director of Goalkeeping under Chris Sharpe (Rapids MLS GK Coach) in the South region and Elite program through January 2022. Although he is in a different role with CRYSC now, he still stays involved on the field as the GK Coach for the WPSL team and by instructing GK licenses with United Soccer Coaches.
Approach to Personal Training
Jeff focuses on what he calls the three “P”s in his approach to training sessions: Personal, Professional, and Productive. He will work with the participant(s) to target specific areas of desired development, design and implement a high-level and modern training session, and make the most of the participant(s) time and energy. Jeff prefers to work with 2-4 similar ability age/level players, rather than individual sessions as he finds that it creates more dynamic and realistic scenarios and also builds in appropriate work/rest ratios for GKs. Sessions will last 60-75′ depending on the number of participants. Jeff also is open to video sessions to provide technical/tactical feedback to players who have access to game film (please note that GK clips must be compiled and shared prior to meeting with him).
